everything's coming up milhouse

Milhouse vs. Rob's sock

Milhouse may not know it yet, but I have big plans for him. When I took him to the vet to be fixed -- just the first of many surprises for the little guy -- I found out he is a bengal, which explains his spots and super-feisty nature. Bengals, the product of the cross between a domestic cat and the Asian leopard cat, are a smart, friendly breed with tons of energy. They're known for their interest in water (some of them even take baths with their owners), and their willingness to be trained. It's apparently not difficult to leash- or toilet-train them.

!!!

If I had to name my Top Two Most Funny and Amazing Things a Cat Could Do, they would be:

1. Walk on a leash.
2. Use a toilet.

Milhouse, say hello to your next two surprises.

I'm going to wait until he's full grown to try the leash training, but there may be some very incredible photos of my cat using the toilet in the near future. Until then, he will express his bengal-ness by poking his head in the running shower, unearthing socks and carrying them around the house in his mouth and being a freaky-cute ball of energy.

"Yes? May I help you?"

he is adorable! i can't wait to see him on a leash :)

Oh good luck! I've actually seen cats on the leash before; happily walking along as if nothing were wrong. As for the toilet... I've heard it's been done, but I've only seen it in movies. ha!

wow! i just read that whole toilet training your cat article. sounds like a big project!!!!! i can't wait to hear about his progress!

Wow, he's grown! I didn't know about the toilet training possibility, but it sounds intriguing - good luck!

Oh my gosh, Milhouse is the cutest!

I put my cat on a leash whenever I take her outside. She adapted to it pretty quickly and as soon as I shake the leash she goes running to the door and waits for me to put it on.

I'd love to toilet train her too.

He's adorable! Actually, since kittens easily adapt to new things, I'd go ahead and get a "H" harness (Figure-8 harnesses tend to get too tight around the neck or middle) and slowly get him used to wearing it. Stand next to him where ever he goes while he has the harness on so he'll get used to you being *there*. And don't be surprised if he plays the "What did you do!? I suddenly can't move!" act the fist few times LOL he'll get over it.

My cat loves walking on a leash and goes racing to the stairs (where I put it on and off) whenever he hears the jingle. ^_^
