If you live in Los Angeles and love ice cream, you've probably heard of Scoops. The owner is a reluctant Yelp superstar who makes small batches of ice cream in mixed-up flavor combinations like matcha-banana, cranberry with basil seed and pistachio-lemon -- and these are just what I've tried in the last two weeks. The shop's signature flavor is brown bread, which tastes like brown sugar and cream and is laced with crunchy Grape Nuts. Yum!
As a weird-ice-cream-flavor aficionado, I was obsessed with Scoops while I was away from LA, forgot about it when I returned, then recently realized I live practically within walking distance. The obsession has returned full-force and I've been stopping in at least once a week. A cup with two flavors is only $2.50 and refills -- refills! on ice cream! kind of a dream come true! -- are only $1.75. Insert Homer Simpson drool here.
There's a board on the wall for people to write their flavor suggestions, which I always find inspiring and amusing. Glazed Donut is one I keep thinking about. I'm not sure exactly how it would taste, but if they sold it at Scoops, I would totally eat it.

What? No one suggested albatross!?
I think I see Rice Krispy Treat though. Mmm...that would have potential.

Sometimes I really do regret the fact that the USA is so very different from here. Black tea and lychee? Raspberry and double chocolate chip? *wishes ice cream could be ordered via international post*

Those flavors sound great. I go to my local "サーティワン" once a month to check out new flavors...but nothing as good as you've got.
Oh... and thanks for the comment!
