gimme your stuff

Cybele at Candy Blog posted today about Gimme Your Stuff, an international-swap blog. I'm interested in sharing the Japanese love, so I hereby offer the following:

+ Japanese candy (see the candy archives for ideas, though I can't guarantee everything is available).
+ Japanese fashion and craft magazines.
+ old kimonos.
+ funny t-shirts with bad English. (Though clothes run 1 or 2 sizes smaller than in the US and Australia.)
+ cute socks.
+ stickers and stationery.
+ cotton fabric, trims, buttons, etc.
+ ...the list goes on. If you're interested, contact me with what you want and I'll let you know if I can find it.

In return, I'd like regional food products from where you live; food or craft books/magazines from your country; craft supplies from your country; basically anything interesting I couldn't find in Japan or the U.S.

Please note: I take no responsibility for your enjoyment (or lack thereof) of candy containing large amounts of rum and/or beef. Thank you.

UPDATE: I am no longer living in Japan, so the comments for this entry are closed.

Hi!!
thanks for joining
Gimme your Stuff!
I'd like to jump in first and try to get my hands on some of your Japanese candy... I'm in Australia, i can send you all kinds of aussie candy/chocolate... koalas... ummmmmm email me!
Rikki

Oh, and Japanese magazines!!
And crazy shoes!
mail@gimmeyourstuff.com

I really would love to try the rum and beef candy!!! It sounds AMAZING.

Sure, you say that now....

I WANT I WANT I WANT I WANT I WANT!!!!

Hello! I live in the USA, in the state of Arizona, and would be interested in doing a trade with you. I live close to the border of Mexico and would be able to get my hands on anything Mexican you may be looking for. I also would be able to get you anything else you'd be wanting from my area. In turn I would be interested in an old Kimono, Japanese beer, or any other kind of "Japanese only" sold item. I see that you mentioned size 8 shoes as well, if you know the style of shoe you’re looking for I’m sure I could find it, and I'd be willing to trade you any kind of unique shoe that are specific to your region of the world.

Oh, do I have Mexican goodies for you. The little bodegas on the east side of town have some kewl things for cooking -- those crazy stone mortar and pestle things for grinding herbs, magic soap to clean up with, etc. -- and I betcha I can also find unusual Mexican folk art-ish graphical things.

So, email me your thoughts (lwitzel at austin.rr.com) on whatchoowant, and we can get it rolling!

Mmmm, weird candy...

Hello, I am interested in trading and I will soon be joining Gimmeyourstuff.

Do you think you could arrange to trade some Shou Ice? Would that cost too much to ship?

As your sister and someone living in India, I am sad that you didn't send this request sooner. Send some more face paper with Mom and Reid and I will arrange to send your weight in cumin and coriander.

Le Chitelier: Sorry, I love the Japanese postal system, but not enough to try to figure out the logistics of mailing frozen goods. Let me know if you want swap other sweets, though.

Anonymous Sister: I TOLD you those face papers were amazing! I'll buy you some more when I go to Kyoto with Mom and Reid.

Darn! Okay, let me think about what else I like...

Would you be interested in a swap from Portugal ? Just let me know ...

Hello! I am from America and I will soon be joining Gimme Your Stuff!

I like about ten seconds from a Trader Joe's, so name your desire and I will get it for you!

I would be interested in an old kimono and, or "cute socks" (just curious... do you mean "tabi socks?")

E-mail me at lauralizzie@gmail.com if you're interested!

Portugal? Yes!

Old kimono for TJ's goods sounds great. I'll email you both.

And "cute socks" can be tabi or non-tabi -- both come in ridiculously cute (and by cute I mean "kawaii") patterns.

haven't joined yet, but definitely very interested in doing a swap. i live in south florida and have access to all sorts of mexican goodness, as well as anything else latin. id love to swap magazines, if possible. email me at meliseoz at gmail dot com

Hi there, just found Gimme Your Stuff through a guy who posted an illo for Illustration Friday and linked to Gimme. I'm really interested in a swap - I see you've got a lot of response though, and postage isn't cheap but if you'd like to talk about a trade, let me know. I live near a Trader Joe's, and also right across the street from a fabulous department-store-sized thrift store. Doesn't have to be a big swap, in fact I'm pretty shoestring with my budget so stationary/stickers/paper/lightweight stuff from japan is great and really what I'm interested in anyway. So let's talk.

howdy! found you and Gimme Your Stuff through my friend Mariko (super eggplant). not sure if you're already overwhelmed/overstocked on stuff, but I'm in SoCal and have lots of access to all kinds of Mexican foodstuffs/supplies plus all the other stuff you mention... me? I love things kawaii & crafty... fabric, trims, buttons, etc. Regardless, great to find you!

Hi! I'd love to trade for some Japanese amigurumi patterns, or any little animal patterns that are similar. Crochet or knit. Or other things too. :) You can see my offered list and what I'm looking for on my blog. Just leave a comment if you're interested.

Hugs! Juli

I'm not your sister :) but I do live in India. I'm interested in knitting/crochet related tools like needles and hooks made by Clover of Japan. What could I get you? I'd have to find out about which things and how to send safely.

I will be willing to trade you the spices and I can send you food items from Georgia.I would be interested in the Craft Magazines Cotton Friend ,and Cotton Paint. If your would be interested please e-mail me and you can give me a list of the spices that you are looking for.

Oh, this made me giggle!

"Please note: I take no responsibility for your enjoyment (or lack thereof) of candy containing large amounts of rum and/or beef. Thank you."

I just posted my list and submitted it. If you are overwhelmed w/ responses, I totally understand.
http://crazycatladymel.livejournal.com/260988.html

Hi, it looks like you may be overwhelmed with requests, but if you need another swap partner... I work for a magazine distributor, so if you have any interest in American magazines (mostly smaller and unusual titles like Bust, Utne, music titles, health titles but also Martha Stewart titles, Vanity Fair and many others.) Regional food would be smoked salmon.

I LOVE the fabrics you swapped with Super Eggplant, especially the one with bread and milk bottle heads! Also love crafting magazines especially sewing kid's clothes and embroidery.

Wow! I have been envying folks who were able to do Japan swaps, and here you are just offering to anyone! I realize I am pretty far down the list, but I would love to swap with you. I could get you Mexican spices and cooking supplies, anything from Trader Joe's, craft goods. I also am a dealer of used children's books, so there's a chance I might have an old favorite to send on to you. I would be interested in fabric, old kimonos, craft magazines and konpeito candy. Thanks again!

Hi, I live in TX. South TX to be exact and I'd LOVE to swap with you. Those adorable Japanese craft mags such as Cotton Time and some fabrics and candy. I can get whatever you'd like from the Lone Star State. Lemme know if you're still interested in swapping.

laura

If you have time, I'd like to swap a few things with you. I have a shoe fetish, and love buying shoes, so if you wanted to do that I could (even though you said you were just kidding about it). Whatever, if you have time, let me know :]

Hello! I live in the USA (New Jersey to be exact) and am in a community that is populated by Indian groceries. I can get you tons of odd spices and snacks. I also have a Trader Joes near by and can get you stuff from there too. I knit, and like cute fabrics, I like chocolate and my husband is a big fan of sour gummy type things. Drop me a line if your interested :o)

Hi!
Darn, I'm late to this post. I love Japanese magazines and books. I live in LA so plenty of Trader Joe's and stuff. Let me know if you want to trade!

Hi,

I'm interested in Japanese manga, music, and clothes. Even though the main goal of my blog is to trade up from a sharpie to a trip to Japan, I'm not going to rule out other trading and I'd be willing to trade you a new pair of shoes, various American candies such as starburst and swedish fish, or maybe something else. Let me know!

yeah... long story but anyway, my URL changed, I apologize about this and here is the link to my blog

Hi,
Since I found out about GimmeYourStuff thanks to your blog (which I've been reading for a few weeks now), I would love to swap with you, say, sometime in September? I'm from Austria, so I won't be able to send exciting American treats, but I'm sure I can find some things that you'd like!
Just let me know if you're interested. :)

I live in the Indina , US . I am a pack rat, would love to trade. Have key chains, books, hair stuff, maps, clothing , a house full. Would love to trade suprice bag. I do Not have any spices. I do have some walnuts from the wallnut tree. We use it to make stain for the fence , But others I know eat them.

So many offers to swap, you lucky person! Well, I will still put my name in. I would love to swap crafty goods, I can get you patterns, fabric, ribbon, yarn, etc. In exchange, I am looking for crafting books (knit, embroidery, sewing) and Re-Ment mini food and kitchen goods. Just let me know!

Hi, I'm way down the list so I'll understand if you take forever to get to me (or don't get to me at all). I'm in Sydney, Australia, and close to a source of Indian spices, Indian braids and whatever regional foods take your fancy.
If you do ever want to swap with me, I'd love fashion/craft magazines, old kimonos (would die for them) and sewing things like ribbons etc.

cheers
Sidhe

And inform me of what type of crafts you are wanting.
If you decide yes, I will inform you of what I like.

Hey!

I'm from Singapore, and I'd love to do a swap with you if you'd like :)

You can visit my URL and let me know if there's anything you're interested in.

I'm interested in some all sorts of Japanese candy/snacks. Singapore does import lots of Japanese snacks, but the variety's pretty limited. And I noticed that you have stuff like Pocky in interesting flavours! Singapore only stocks the almond, strawberry, chocolate and vanilla.

I'd also like some of those lovely canvas fabric you had in one of your blog entries, if that's possible.

What I'm really interested in is some Japanese reading material as well, as my mom used to study Japanese language. Likewise, this is kind of hard to find in Singapore.

In return, I can get you some craft supplies. There isn't any point getting you fabric as most of those I can get here definitely cannot be compared to yours. I could get you a huge variety of charms though, if you'd like that.

Local fashion magazines and tabloids are easy to get as well, if you're interested.

Since Chinese New Year is round the corner, maybe I could send you a Chinese New Year package, filled with all sorts of goodies and Chinese New Year decor stuff.

Hope to hear from you soon :)
