saturday morning with frank

When Frank Lloyd Wright came to Los Angeles, he wanted to make affordable houses out of cement, turning the ugliest material into something pleasing and even beautiful. It was kind of a disaster, but the Ennis-Brown House and Freeman House are interesting nonetheless.

do you think the ennis-brown house is an interesting disaster? i think your use of "interesting" disables "disaster." but i could be wrong. but i could ALWAYS be wrong. i think you think it's beautiful... hmm?

"Interesting" because it IS beautiful (suprisingly so) and seems so different from the usual structure of a house, but actually isn't. "Disaster" because it started falling apart even while they were building it and because the method of construction, which was supposed to save money, actually cost much more than traditional methods.

There are plenty of interesting disasters in the world -- why else would people watch the E! True Hollywood stories of drug-addled, washed-up celebrities?
