Ever since I got this comment, I have been pondering the strange allure of boys who work at Trader Joe's. Is it the t-shirts? The wholesomeness? The fact that if you dated one you could probably get all the pumpkin butter you could ever want?
I recently discovered that the boys of Trader Joe's are much nicer when you are a girl shopping on your own rather than a girl shopping with her boyfriend. Thus, the very surly TJ's boy actually smiled and chatted with me about the spice-bread supplies I was buying. The TJ's boy from Spain told me about his Daylight Savings mix-up. And last week, the very eager TJ's boy ran across the parking lot to help me load groceries in my car.
"Oops. Your registration is almost expired," he said.
"Yup." I wondered why he was checking out my license plate.
"Well, it's a Toyota, so you shouldn't have any trouble passing the smog check."
"That's true." At this point I was trying to quickly load the bags into the backseat because I'm never totally comfortable with chivalrous assistance from strangers. It makes me feel too girly and indebted. I also didn't know what to say to the eager TJ's boy. So I tried to grab two bags at once, but he stopped me.
"One at a time, one at a time. We have all the time in the world...."
I giggled nervously and loaded the bags one at a time. Then I thanked him and he ran back across the parking lot, pushing the cart in front of him.
Being a Trader Joe's boy would be the perfect ruse if you were a creepy stalker. They are so nice and harmless, the bearers of blocks of Ghiradelli chocolate, reasonably-priced cheeses and $2 wine. How could they ever hurt anyone?

Great post! I don't trust ANYONE at TJ's. Too many of them wear back braces ;) I have to say though, I liked the old page design better. Why'd you change it?!

Wow, I don't know what to say, that linked reply was pretty out of hand. Sounds like that guy has some issues to work out, if you know what I mean? My ex-roomate used to work at T-Jizzos, and he never hurt anyboy. P.S. The new design is AWESOME!!!

I don't know what to say... I guess a web-based blog is, by nature, a forum for expressing one's opinion. But to be honest, I feel "Steve" is purposely attacking me in his statement about your design. Is it my fault that I prefer your floral print to this bland taupe? Please here me out Ms. Jean Sparlor: If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I hated the old page design! I'm not good enough at web design to do what I wanted to do with it. This is much simpler and easier for me to handle.

Well, I don't know where to begin, but I think a unifying element between Skip and Derick is their mutual distaste for good ascetics. I hope our large webmistress ignores the hate they bring into this world.
The new design IS so much nicer, a TJ boy would wear it!

Oh, "Steve"and "Skip" -- I see through your ruse! You have the same IP address. Are you roommates or is it a multiple personality thing?

What's so "large" about the webmistress?

I'm sorry steve, I'm a little confused. Did you mean "aesthetic"? Or did you actually mean to refer to the movement of aestetics, who renounced worldly posessions? If you could clear that up for me, I'd be much appreciative. As for our mutual webmaster friend, I'm sure your local library has many books on web design. Your writing is too good to be mired by poor design...

Well, I don't know how to start, I've never been so ruthlessly attacked in my life for giving a compliment! I think big Jean [as in "giant" Jon, DUH!? do you hate people who don't look like you!?] has made some excellent aestetic decisions, and should stick by her sowing sticks.
And Skip, why don't you "here" [it's spelled HEAR you fool] me out: I think this paired down minimalist aesthetic reflects the aesetic movment and that my usage was correct.
I can't believe this website has disseminated into such negativity :(

Oh please, Steve. Your sense of design remains questionable after what you posted on that blog about ceramics. And by "sowing sticks", I'm sure you meant "female-pigging sticks" right? Disseminating? What? I'm sick of you following me around the web, counteracting all of my opinions.
I apologize for this, Ms. Sparlor. I cannot seem to shake this poor man, and his ideosyncronicities.
